Pictured at right is my nephew Keegan checking out my mom's akutaq. He didn't want to leave the kitchen once he saw that my mom started making it. On the left side is black berry and on the right side is blueberry. After the picture was taken, he started picking out some berries and ate them. It was so funny because he had akutaq all over his face. When we went to grab him to put the akutaq away, he started getting fussy so my brother gave him some on a plate.

Knee Boarding

The picture above is me getting ready to knee board. This was taken at the swimming place below Russian Mission. The guy's back is my boyfriend driving the boat. Before this, I have never gone knee boarding so I was sort of nervous. I had a lot of fun though. The first time I tried to go, I went under the water because I wasn't leaning back far enough. It was embarrassing. Further toward the left was a bunch of other people, who were swimming and sitting around a fire.
It was a nice and hot day out so a bunch of us decided to go swimming. Some of the boys asked if I ever tried this out. When I said no, they told me I HAD to. It sounded scary but after I saw my friend Carl go, I thought it would be fun. One of the guys wanted to use his HUGE boat but it looked scary. It would've made bigger waves so I said NO. They decided to use another smaller boat.
When we started going, I was so scared and I thought I was going to drown, haha. It was hard to see where I was going but when I looked down, I saw some shallow areas. I was hoping that I wouldn't crash on the shallow areas. It gave me a huge adrenaline rush and I want to try it out again someday. I might actually consider buying my own for next summer. It's a lot of fun and if you haven't tried it out yet, you HAVE to!!

[[ABOUT ME]]

My name is Genevieve Ward but most people know me as Gena, for short. I'm 17 years young. I was born in Bethel, AK but raised here in Aniak. I'm currently a senior at the Aniak High School [[CLASS OF 09!]]. My parents are Jon && Bernice Ward and I have two older brothers. I'm the baby and the only girl in my family :D. My favorite things to do are: play my guitar, play volleyball, travel, bead, dance, listen to music, ride around town, go on walks (sometimes), and just try to have fun. My favorite colors are: blue, pink, green, and sometimes red. I love eating spicy foods and my favorite drink is So-Be Strawberry Banana.

After graduating out of high school, I plan on finishing Cosmetology and become a hair dresser. While attending Galena Interior Learning Academy, I have taken a Cosmetology class and received my permit. I thought it was fun and I learned that I can make good $$$. I also hope to attend a school that teaches the Yupik Language. Growing up, I haven't really learned how to speak or understand the language. After I've learned it, I plan on teaching it to the youth of Aniak or another village.

Disturbia-Rihanna

I think Rihanna is an awesome singer and her songs are pretty sweet. However, I'm not a big fan of the song "Disturbia" by Rihanna but it's one of those songs that just can't get out of my head. Especially the part where she sings "Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum " repeatedly. It reminds me of getting caught in like a nightmare. You try and try to wake up but everything you do wouldn't work. It also kind of annoys me when I hear it too much.

Picture's Worth a Thousand Words

Pictured above, is me sitting on the dike in Aniak. My friend Janell and I were taking several pictures in June. We both wanted to try take pictures that were different than the ones we usually take so we went for a walk. I told her that I wanted pictures to remember before she left for schooling down in Mt. Edgecumbe. We both found several places to have pictures taken. We were both walking along the dike and the sun was beginning to set.

She told me to sit down on this spot and she would take my picture. I wanted the first picture deleted because I blinked my eyes, haha. After she took my picture, we traded and I took her picture. We both loved the lighting and thought it was awesome. After we took these pictures, we continued walking toward the FAA buildings. Harvey drove by and offered to bring us for a quick ride. We went to the high school playground and Agnes came over. We took even more pictures there. When we returned to my house, the first thing we did was post these on our Myspace pages.

This picture was one of my favorites. I liked the color effects (black and white) and the trees in the background. I like how it looks like I'm deep in thought and found a cozy little spot to get things off my mind. Personally, I love to take pictures and taking pictures outdoors (like this one) is fun and different. I miss taking pictures with Janell. I can't wait until she comes for Christmas break so that we can take some. hehe :P
